Time and Memory fold onto themselves in “A Stack of Fertilized Stones.” As a child, I swam-floated down the Rhine with my mother and aunt. Now 45 years later I find myself doing the same with my own daughter every day as part of my Edition/Basel practice. Sophia and I have collected objects excavated from the river along with stories and images. These objects have provided me with the basis for my personal take on “Man Ni Dui”, the Tibetan Buddhist ritual-practice of carving mantras into rocks and stacking them.
