Shadow Count references the numerical discrepancy between abuses against women and the data recorded of those abuses (only one in ten occurrences are officially recorded thus the 9 shadows for each flower), the 19th century use of the lotus in association with the “Flower Girls” and “Flower Houses” and the demands placed on women today in regards to beauty, economics and desirability.
